Secret Service detain man who drove to WH checkpoint, allegedly announced he had a car bomb


An unnamed man was detained by the Secret Service late Saturday night after he drove his car to a White House checkpoint about a quarter mile from the White House and claimed to have a bomb inside his car. According to CNN, there was no immediate indication whether or not the man had a device in his car, but law enforcement shut down the area around the checkpoint and upgraded security at the White House while bomb technicians inspected the vehicle. In a statement, the Secret Service confirmed that at 11:05 p.m. EST Saturday, an individual drove his car to a checkpoint near the White House where the Secret Service detained the man and “declared his vehicle suspicious.”
